Caminito del Rey Tour with Tapas: What the Lunch Is

The tapas lunch on the Caminito del Rey and white village tour: where and when it is, what guests ate, drinks, vegetarian and vegan plates (Oct 2026).

Updated October 2026

The tapas lunch on the Caminito del Rey and white village tour is a sit-down meal at a restaurant in Álora, about an hour and a half after the morning’s guided visit and before the walk, and it is included in the price. Guests describe a full table: one account lists four tapas, two drinks, fruit and coffee; others mention wine, vegetarian plates and a vegan option made without fuss. Of the Caminito day trips from Málaga we read in October 2026, it is the one with a sit-down meal in a white village. Áloratur’s tour is rated 4.9 from 3,562 reviews and from US$73 a person in current promotion (usually US$80) (checked October 2026).

Lunch before the walk, not after, is the point to plan around. You set off along the gorge with a full stomach, and there is no eating on the coach: food and drinks in the vehicle are on the tour’s not-allowed list. Water for the walk is not included, so buy a bottle in Álora.

What guests ate

Of the newest 350 reviews, read on 30 October 2026, 39 mention the tapas. The pattern:

  • Quantity: “plentiful”, in one English review, and filling in many others; one guest counted four different tapas, two drinks, fruit and coffee, all in the price.
  • Drinks: two drinks are mentioned more than once, with coffee or wine to choose from, and a taste of local wine in one account.
  • Diets: guests mention vegetarian options and a vegan meal prepared without trouble. Tell the operator at booking if you need one.
  • The other side: a few called the tapas “ok” or “mediocre”; the walk, not the food, is what the low marks are about.

Eating on the walk itself

The Caminito del Rey’s own FAQ says to bring lunch, a sandwich or similar, and allows water or energy drinks, chocolate or energy bars, nuts and fruit; past the walkways there is nowhere to prepare food, and stopping on the route holds up the people behind you. On the white village tour the meal is behind you by then, so a bottle of water and a snack are enough.

Tapas back in Málaga

The coach is back in Málaga about 19:30, early enough for an evening out. spain-food-tour.com compares Málaga’s own tapas tours, if one table of tapas a day is not enough.
