The order matters. The walk comes in the afternoon, after lunch; Áloratur schedules it then because fewer people walk the gorge in the afternoon, and the morning goes to Álora. If you would rather walk first and eat after, this is not your tour.
What the price covers, and what it does not
The price includes the coach from Málaga and back, the guided visit to Álora and its archaeological museum, the tapas lunch, the Caminito del Rey with an official guide, and the entry ticket. It does not include water, binoculars for the walk (€1.20 to hire), or accident insurance for guests over 65, who can join with their own insurance and a signed form. The tour runs in English only.
Álora, the white village
Álora is a town of white houses on a hillside above the Guadalhorce valley, below an Arab castle declared a national monument in 1931 (the town council of Álora). Its municipal museum, the Museo Rafael Lería, is in the Escuela de Cristo, a 16th-century Mudéjar building. On the tour a guide walks the group through the museum, the Church of La Encarnación and the old centre; guests mention the castle and its view too. Álora or Ardales compares it with the village most other day trips stop in.
The tapas lunch
The lunch is at a restaurant in Álora, about an hour and a half, before the walk. Guests describe a full spread: four tapas, two drinks, fruit and coffee in one account, and vegetarian and vegan plates in others. The tapas lunch has what guests ate.
The walk
The Caminito del Rey runs one way, from the north entrance near Ardales to El Chorro, 7.7 km in all with 2.9 km on the walkways and the Hoyo valley between them; the hanging bridge near the end is 105 metres up (the Caminito del Rey’s own site). Children under 8 cannot enter, sticks and crutches are not allowed, and the official FAQ lists no toilets on the route (October 2026). Caminito del Rey rules and difficulty goes through what to wear and bring.

Tickets, pickups and other cities
The Caminito del Rey sells its own tickets, €10 for a general visit and €18 for its official guided visit (October 2026), if you would rather get to El Chorro yourself: tickets or a guided tour weighs the two. The white village tour starts in central Málaga only; Caminito del Rey tours by pickup town covers Torremolinos, Fuengirola, Marbella and Nerja, and the Caminito del Rey from Seville or Granada the longer days from inland.
